Acoustic sound testing in the field is supported by our acoustic technologies and on-site facilities including our Innovation & Acoustic Laboratories. Our acoustic testing processes allow for the quick and reliable identification and treatment of noise problems to identify high performance solutions for the Vehicle and Industrial Noise Control markets.

EIBC field testing services can be conducted both on-site at db facilities or at our customers sites to facilitate the development of a Noise Reduction Plan (NRP) for our Industrial Noise customers or to support our Vehicle Acoustic Test Program. Our sound testing processes follow the most relevant industry testing standards and we can guarantee a fast and effective outcome with our testing generally taking between 1-2 days. Infrared thermography services is the analysis of thermal information by using non-contact thermal imaging devices. Infrared Thermography is used to detect hotspots, heat loss, leaks, insulation defects etc. so that maintenance personnel can take appropriate action to correct the problem, therefore avoiding losses resulting from plant shutdowns, increasing the life and efficiency of machines, and ensuring the safety of employees.

It is proved fact that 50% of machinery failures, including motors failures are due to "Misalignment" of machines. This is the area, which is commonly neglected in many industries; one major reason is that it is difficult and time consuming to perform, often requiring specialist skills to align all machinery accurately. To overcome these problems adaption of Laser alignment technique is most effective solution. All the rotating equipment including high speed turbines, compressors, pumps, fans etc. can be aligned effectively by using our specialized Laser Alignment kits within short duration.

In addition to the above EIBC is providing the services like leveling, parallelism, flatness and squareness in all process industries to maintain trouble free operation by using our specialized Laser Alignment kits.

Shaft Alignment can be performed with a lot of different tools. The easiest way is to use a ruler or a straight edge over the two coupling halves and align by eyesight. The result is not very accurate and it is very operator dependent. A better result can be achieved by the use of mechanical dial indicators. A skilled and experienced operator can obtain good and reliable measurements, but it takes time and patience. A far easier and highly accurate way is to use laser based alignment systems. They do not require special skills and deliver accurate and reliable results.

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is the process of inspecting, testing, or evaluating materials, components or assemblies for discontinuities, or differences in characteristics without destroying the serviceability of the part or system. In other words, when the inspection or test is completed the part can still be used.

Under NDT we provide the following services:

Infrared Thermal Imaging (Thermography) :

It is the remote Condition Monitoring technique that locates these surface temperatures abnormalities, and defines their characteristics for use in Preventive Maintenance in your plant.

Dye Penetrant Inspection :

It is a method that is used to reveal surface breaking flaws by bleed out of a coloured or fluorescent dye from the flaw. The technique is based on the ability of a liquid to be drawn into a "clean" surface breaking flaw by capillary action. After a period of time called the "dwell," excess surface penetrant is removed and a developer applied. This acts as a blotter. It draws the penetrant from the flaw to reveal its presence.

Radiography :

It is used to detect discontinuities within the internal structure of welds. The obvious advantage of both these methods of testing is their ability to help establish the weld's internal integrity without destroying the welded component.

Brinell Hardness Testing :

The Brinell hardness test is an indentation hardness test that can provide useful information about metallic materials. This information may correlate to tensile strength, wear resistance, ductility, or other physical characteristics of metallic materials, and may be useful in quality control and selection of materials.

Boroscopy :

It is the inspection of piping internal surface and weld joints. It is the current pharmaceutical industry practice to use boroscope for documentation of orbital welding joints for inspection.

Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) :

MPI uses magnetic fields and small magnetic particles (i.e. iron filings) to detect flaws in components. The only requirement from an inspectability standpoint is that the component being inspected must be made of a ferromagnetic material such as iron, nickel, cobalt, or some of their alloys. Ferromagnetic materials are materials that can be magnetized to a level that will allow the inspection to be effective.

Ultrasonic Testing (UT) :

It uses high frequency sound energy to conduct examinations and make measurements. Ultrasonic inspection can be used for flaw detection/evaluation, dimensional measurements, material characterization, and more. To illustrate the general inspection principle

Today modern Non-Destructive Testing are used in manufacturing, fabrication and in-service inspections to ensure product integrity and reliability, to control manufacturing processes, lower production costs and to maintain a uniform quality level. During construction, NDT is used to ensure the quality of materials and joining processes during the fabrication and erection phases, and in-service NDT inspections are used to ensure that the products in use continue to have the integrity necessary to ensure their usefulness and the safety of the public.

We offer a comprehensive service in lubricating Oil & Electrical Oil analysis at our oil analysis laboratories.

We carry on site oil analysis at our customer place as per the requirement, this cuts time to send sample to labs and get back reports. We use simple to use and Economical Fuel and Lube Oil Testing kits.

Knowing which contaminants, whether chemical substances or metallic/physical debris, are present in your lubricant oils provides you with important decision-making information. This specific knowledge, based on regular periodic sampling, allows you to save time and money.

Ultrasonic Testing provides a non-invasive predictive maintenance service to industry. Ultrasonic inspection systems respond to the in-audible, or ultrasonic elements of these acoustic emissions.

The ultrasonic sound being monitored is sound waves that occur in the 20 to 100 KHz range. The average threshold of human perception is about 17 KHz, making it impossible for early detection of a developing problem without the competent use of an Ultra Probe and it can detect pinhole leaks of as low as 1 psi.

Friction in moving equipment also generates ultrasonic sound. As lubricants break down and bearings wear, serious defects are clearly heard, while subtle defects create noticeable changes in ultrasonic sound levels. These subtle changes indicate that a particular bearing or gearbox is starting to fail. Hence this can also be used as a tool in Condition Monitoring of Machines.

Ultrasonic Testing has a very wide area of application such as Slow speed bearing monitoring, Flaw detection, Vacuum leak, Pressure leaks (air/steam ), Substations, Heat exchangers Electrical discharge (Arcing, Flashing, Corona etc.), Steam traps, Bearing, Gearboxes, Valves etc.

Slow speed Bearing Monitoring :

UT is proved to be very useful in early detection of any fault in case of bearing with very low rpm. It can vibration analysis in several ways.

Electrical Discharges :

Arcing, Flashing and Corona discharges can be confirmed by UT with maximum safety.

Flaw Detection :

Propagation of sound waves through solid materials is used to detect hidden cracks, voids, porosity, and other internal discontinuities in metals, composites, plastics, and ceramics. High frequency sound waves reflect from flaws in predictable ways, producing distinctive echo patterns that can be displayed and recorded by portable instruments.

Flow Measurement :

It is used for determining the flow through pipes. It highly accurate flow solutions to clients who wish to determine and report accurate liquid flow rate without having to halt a process or cut through pipes. A high quality clamp on flow meter should be capable of maintaining accuracy in working in conditions where there are temperature fluctuations in the process and the surrounding environment.

Leak Detection :

About 10% of industrial electricity consumption is used in powering compressed air systems which are safe, reliable and versatile. A compressed air system that has minimal leaks and is energy efficient could save your company a lot of money".

The problem lies in detecting just exactly where, in your system, air leakage is occurring. That's where the use of an ultrasonic leak detector can help. It has been found that typically 20 - 30% of compressed air produced on site is lost through leaks. However, proactive leak detection and repair program can reduce leaks to less than 10% of compressor output.

The rotating machines and structures are often have vibration problems due to resonance which occur natural frequencies of rotors and structures equals or close to operating speed of the machines. This resonant vibrations cause machine and structural failure very frequently and interrupt the services due to high vibrations. The resonance problem can be properly identified, studied and resolved using modal and ODS analysis techniques.

MODAL ANALYSIS :

Modal analysis is a study of rotor and support structure system using transfer function testing method while machine or structure is not in operating condition. The rotor and structure have many numbers of natural frequencies and modes; however the interest is on first few modes only. OPERATION DEFLECTION SHAPE (ODS) :

Operation deflection shape testing is a study of the machine or structure during operation. The transfer function test method is used to perform ODS analysis. It is essential to obtain phase and magnitude at each desired point on the machine or structure. The acquired response data transferred to ODS analysis software for 3D animation. This visual information provides how the machines or structures are responding to applied dynamic forces. The ODS testing includes

Root cause analysis (RCA) is a method of problem solving used for identifying the root causes of faults or problems. A factor is considered a root cause if removal thereof from the problem-fault-sequence prevents the final undesirable outcome from recurring; whereas a causal factor is one that affects an event’s outcome, but is not a root cause. Though removing a causal factor can benefit an outcome, it does not prevent its recurrence with certainty.

Essentially it is based on four general principles, extended throughout this article:

RCA is applied to methodically identify and correct the root causes of events, rather than to simply address the symptomatic result. Focusing correction on root causes has the goal of entirely preventing problem recurrence. Conversely, RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis) recognizes that complete prevention of recurrence by one corrective action is not always possible.

RCA is typically used as a reactive method of identifying event(s) causes, revealing problems and solving them. Analysis is done after an event has occurred. Insights in RCA make it potentially useful as a preemptive method. In that event, RCA can be used to forecast or predict probable events even before they occur. While one follows the other, RCA is a completely separate process to incident management..

This Training are designed to allow the students to better understand rotor dynamics and their options when facing a problem piece of equipment that is running at or close to its critical speed. This course will provide vibration analysts a road map to develop a plan to perform basic calculations to estimate the critical speeds of different types of machinery. Lab calculations will be performed by the students throughout the course to reinforce topics learned in the class. These techniques can be applied to all types of rotating machinery using either journal bearings or rolling element bearings. The students will be able to calculate stiffness for rolling element bearings and journal bearings using the provided equations. Tables for viscosities, journal bearing damping and stiffness will be supplied, along with other materials required for a critical speed model. An extensive list of required equations for calculation of natural frequencies will also be provided. The single degree of freedom modeling will also be taught. Upon completion of the course, students will have the skills to perform a hand calculation to accurately estimate the critical speed of a shaft. Additionally, the students will be able to develop the necessary parameters for the development of a computer rotor dynamic model.
